Types of Asbestos Surveys:

Asbestos Management Surveys & Refurbishment/Demolition Surveys;

All ASA surveys are tailored to meet the individual requirements of the client by offering bespoke and flexible solutions.

There are 2 main types of asbestos survey -

Asbestos Management & Refurbishment/Demolition. Surveys:
Occasionally a survey may include 2 different types on the same building, this could be when a particular part of a building is to be refurbished or demolished and the rest of the property is to remain untouched but still requires a survey (This part of the building would be subjected to a management survey).

Asbestos Management Survey:
In this type of Asbestos survey all reasonably accessible areas are checked for asbestos containing materials and, where required, representative samples are taken to a UKAS accredited laboratory for analysis. This survey provides a full report and gives positive identification as to the content of particular materials regarding asbestos and includes the location and material assessments and recommendations on the management of the asbestos containing materials.

Asbestos Refurbishment/Demolition Survey:
An extension of a management survey, this survey is fully intrusive and all areas such as sealed voids and cavities are inspected. This survey is only usually commissioned prior to major refurbishment or demolition.

On completion of either type of survey the client is provided with the following:

• A comprehensive, detailed report highlighting the presence (or not) of any asbestos containing materials that were discovered (or presumed to exist) during the course of the Asbestos survey, in the areas that were accessible.
• An asbestos register that can be used to identify the areas, monitor the condition and up-date the action plan on any asbestos containing materials that were found or presumed to exist.
• Individual Risk assessments and recommendations for each item/area of asbestos that are identified.
• Drawings, Photographs and plans of areas/items that are sampled for asbestos content (or where presumptions of asbestos are made) to aid identification and location trace ability.
• Impartial advice on the action & treatment of the asbestos containing materials that are detected during the course of the asbestos survey.
• Advice on periodic inspections and how to keep the Asbestos register up-to-date.
• A laboratory analysis Data Sheet showing the results of all samples that are taken during the course of the asbestos survey
